ZoodulcisModeratorSounds normal for a hungry frog. Increase his feedings to daily for 7 days and see if that makes a difference. He should be at an age when every other day is enough, but they are so individual in their needs and personalities that a little experimentation is needed. His behavior is not bad, really, but if it frightens you, then feed him more for a bit and see if that calms him down enough that you again feel comfortable with him.
ZoodulcisModeratorAB has it right. He’s probably OK because you acted in time. But if he is that adventurous, pothos or some other amphibian friendly plant might be a good call until he is two or three years old.
ZoodulcisModeratorVery wise. There are some very good breeders out there that forum members recommend highly. But he should have a phone conversation with anyone he wished to buy from, not just email. You can tell a lot about their standards of care when you converse with them live that doesn’t always come through in cyberspace.
ZoodulcisModeratorOh cool, it would have worried me too. So now you know and you run no chance of accidental D3 poisoning. Good on ya!
ZoodulcisModeratorOh I am so sorry to hear that. I know how fond he was of that little guy. What a shame that he had an incurable disease that didn’t respond to good husbandry. Will Chance get a new beardie soon, or does he need to wait and get over the loss of this one?
ZoodulcisModeratorOh that sounds awesome and the calcium probably does have D3. Still, you might want to drop them an email just to make sure.
ZoodulcisModeratorIt sounds like you are really throwing yourself into it! That is definitely part of the fun that so many people miss out on. Do you think you will eventually end up with another reptile or two?
ZoodulcisModeratorWho is!!? The little frog or the beardie?
ZoodulcisModeratorNice 16 year old! Lucky you. Does she do most of the care-taking?
ZoodulcisModeratorOh my goodness! I’m sure they meant well, but unless you know whether it includes Vitamin D3 or not, then long term your little guy could be at risk. he will also need vitamins weekly. Did they give you any of those?
ZoodulcisModeratorYou can’t go wrong with a 50/50 crickets to worms ratio.
ZoodulcisModeratorSuch an alert little dude. Still think that’s a hysterical name. They sure can eat at this age. What do you dust his bugs with?
ZoodulcisModeratorEvery other day is fine at t his age, but I wouldn’t go longer until he is about 9 months. He needs just a bit more calcium than vitamins. Calcium at each feeding is essential, but vitamins can be once a week.
ZoodulcisModeratorYeah he looks like sassy would describe him pretty well. Does he like to be handled, or just have crickets handed to him and them be left alone?
ZoodulcisModeratorSounds interesting. What steps will you take to ensure that there is no rot, due to the type of humidity that Cresties prefer?
