ZoodulcisModeratorOK, male it is. How is his temperament? Any issues?
ZoodulcisModeratorGood to know. I hate to admit how many Rustoleum products I use for things like that. Nothing wrong with the easy way if it works!
Where did you get the idea for this?
ZoodulcisModeratorWinter snuggling, so comforting. At some point, do you think she will refuse all food for several weeks?
ZoodulcisModeratorOh you must be so pleased. Fingers crossed that the 3rd one eats today. How many crickets do those little things consume? Not many I bet, at least not yet.
ZoodulcisModeratorYou’re smart to give him a safe place to hunt and lounge. It would be heart-breaking to see a hawk carrying off your dear friend. I hear it’s been hot down that way. Is that affecting his desire to be outdoors? Is it offsetting his brumation urges or is he proceeding with slowing down regardless of the weather?
ZoodulcisModeratorThat’s hilarious and utterly charming. Do Eclipses tend to have any bad genetic anomalies that might affect the nervous system, or are they safe from that?
ZoodulcisModeratorYou are right about the controversy. Much of the relevant advice is great for some parts of the country with certain heat and humidity conditions and terrible for others. Needs can change with seasons as well. And for feeding, reagardless of what this or that person recommends, when in doubt, variety, variety, variety. That way you can be sure you are covering all the bases, even the ones you aren’t sure of!! Good for you for doing the research and I hope this input is helpful.
ZoodulcisModeratorI agree with this, but if you are going to go to all of the trouble, I would use a 10% bleach solution. Put everything in the dishwasher that won’t melt and soak everything else in bleach. Spray the sides and inside corners with bleach. Not only will this take care of the ants, it will destroy any potential pathogens that might eventually become a problem. All items that have come into contact with bleach will have to be rinsed several times in tap water and allowed to air dry for 2 or more hours. Only then should Horny go back in. Once you have done all of that, you might try a thin line of Tanglefoot around the bottom of the tank. That way you not only protect the inside of the tank, you will be able to see if re-colonization is being attempted. With a powder repellent, a good idea under some circumstances, you won’t really know. Tanglefoot is available in the garden section of Home Depot.
ZoodulcisModeratorI do think you are adorable and I gave you a gold. Tell your teenage person to get her friends to log on and give you a gold too. You are awfully cute and need to grow up big and strong and have a full life with lots of bugs to snack on. Not too many though, you wouldn’t want to get fat!
ZoodulcisModeratorStunning creature. Male or female?
ZoodulcisModeratorThat really is a very ‘crafty’ set up. I too am curious about the coating on the outside of the mountain and it’s ledges.
ZoodulcisModeratorGood for you, getting a vet check. How is she expressing brumation? Eating less and lethargic?
ZoodulcisModerator🤣 I spend an hour in bed drinking coffee every morning myself!
ZoodulcisModeratorNo Flukers or the homemade gutload recommended in the beardie care guide on this site? No calcium with D3?
ZoodulcisModeratorI bet it felt like a triumph and you could stop worrying. So what do you use as a gutload?
