ZoodulcisModeratorRight now Santa has Chameleon envy, since he does not wear a coat of colors, just red and only red with white trim. Have you had Boy George a long time?
ZoodulcisModeratorThat is some serious Christmas card photo stuff! Is the little four-legged little thing for the little two-legged critter, or more for the adult’s enjoyment?
ZoodulcisModeratorShe is queen of the new cave, and boy, does she know it! I think the slate is a brilliant passive solar basking area.
ZoodulcisModeratorOh I do believe you! I had one baby goat, and only one out of dozens, that I potty trained. She would have to drop raisins when the urge came, but boy would she hold the pee until she was taken outside. Of course, most indoor baby goat rescues just pee where ever and you have to have a towel at the ready. I believe Olive is potty trained, and how very very nice for you all.

ZoodulcisModeratorAlthough I have had a ball python, Knight anoles and other reptiles, but right now I have goats.
ZoodulcisModeratorAs long as he is mad about greens that are low in oxalic acid, you can’t go wrong. Don’t get carried away with Kale or Spinach, but collard greens in abundance should be fine at this stage.
ZoodulcisModeratorYou can certainly weigh him twice a week, if you think that would be the best way to track weight. It’s tempting to do it daily when one is concerned about an animal’s weight loss, but twice a week is a perfectly good compromise. The diet sounds pretty well balanced, just be sure that the calcium content of the CGD is generous. The last thing your guy needs is to have to cope with MBD, which can compromise an animal’s teeth and jaws in addition to the spine.

ZoodulcisModeratorTrue, they are not mutually exclusive! What made you decide to acquire dumpies as pets?
ZoodulcisModeratorNow that I would truly like to see that posted.
Got a gecko question on behalf of another forum member…if a crestie that is still quite young seems to have a face that is developing asymmetrically, is there anything that a new and inexperienced owner should be aware of? Any special course of action? Has this situation ever happened to you?
ZoodulcisModeratorFingers crossed, but if you are mistaken, you will be needing even more crickets!
ZoodulcisModeratorGorgeous face. Very kissable but I bet he wouldn’t like it. With all those geckos I can see why free crickets could come in real handy! Have you separated the mom and dad permanently as a form of birth control, or has one gone away?
ZoodulcisModeratorYes, I think that post mentioned above would be very helpful for you. Thanks AB. Now, that said, there is no way to tell if this deformity will worsen. The best advice that I can offer is to provide your pet with the best CGD that money can buy at this developmental stage. You don’t want to compound his issues with poor nutrition. When he is sexually mature, and seems to be doing well, you can try other, less pricey formulations.
Don’t worry about the number of droppings just yet. Transportation and rehoming are very stressful to young animals and he may not have fully settled in yet. The scale is brilliant, and will come in super handy. I would try not to handle him for weighing every single day, as that may add to his stress. Skip a day now and then until he has been with you a couple of months. That allows his sympathetic nervous system to really settle down and normalize for a day before being challenged again. If he is a little one-sided in his approach to life, will that bother you?

ZoodulcisModeratorYou’re sure he’s croaking for crickets, and not for Alice? 😆
ZoodulcisModeratorRotten luck with the little guys all being boys. Still, they are insanely cute and I bet you love them already. Do you think you will sell any of them and try your luck again with eggs, hoping for a female?
ZoodulcisModeratorYep, it’s true. No sand at all, and ignore what they say in any pet store to the contrary. Again, it might be wise to consult the gecko guides presented on the Critter Depot site, especially the one for Leopard Geckos, in this particular instance. I think you will find it helpful.
