He is very lucky to hae you. I sure wish people would do a little research before acquiring a pet of any kind. But many people don’t.

Couldn’t lift his body!!! Wow, it’s a miracle that he is in such good shape now. Good for you! He seems to be having a great life. How did you come to know he needed a new home?

Howdy, there is no April winner at this point, only at the end of the month. There is only one winner. Critter golds do not accumulate to one person with multiple pictures, but rather to one single submission. Does that help with the confusion?

This should be sufficient in size. Make sure the heating and lighting are sufficient. It’s a bit pricey, so you will want everything to be perfect.

    A really lovely little gecko.

The best way to win the contest is to get lots of people to give critter golds to one submission only. Multiple submissions don’t really help. So tell all your friends to go online and vote for one of your guys. If you want me to delete a particular image so folks are directed to one only, please let me know.

    Greetings Max,

This is a pretty common concern. I advise reading all threads under the Pacman category. Of special note, is whether or not your pet has pooped in the last few days. You may have to excavate your friend and examine the hidey-hole in order to determine this. Check that out, as well as all threads on this topic, and then get back to us.

Not currently. I travel too much and don’t trust most petsitters. Some are great, but some….

Oh so he’s not a huge pig. Seems just about right. Before you know it, he will be up to 8-10 a day. So much fun to watch!

Depending on age, I would say female. But check out this website for other ways to examine the ventral characteristics of your pet to determine sex.

Hard to know exactly what they would do. It depends on the species of ant. There are approximately 700 species of ants in the US. Many are harmless, some are not. So it is better to err on the side of caution as you have done.

Should be no problem taking him for a walk outside today, as I understand it. Lovely 80 degrees here in Colorado today, but I’m guessing it’s going to be a lot warmer there. He should enjoy it!

That’s hilarious!! He’ll be too big to do that before you know it. Is he about 3 months old?

Having been a professional dog trainer for obedience, and search and rescue, I can say without prejudice that I would rather sit on a park bench with a well-mannered snake than a barky dog any day. But since one of the things I studied briefly for my doctoral dissertation was human instinctive and trained responses to certain forms of animal life, I understand the restrictions some venues have for certain animals. I disagree with it, but I understand the apparent need, from their point of view. On the flip side, I know people who have a pathological fear of bunnies and turkeys! I think the only thing to do is to frequent the venues that allow the snake, and give them your business when you can. And educate the public whenever possible.
