How exciting? Do you breed any other reptiles? Now is certainly a good time to be doing so!

Sounds like Toothless doesn’t like to be handled much. She could change her mind, eventually. Handling twice a week is not too much, although if it seems to be stressful for her, only handle her after she’s had a couple of days off. That way any unusual cortisol spike from a stress-related response will be long gone. It also gives her a chance to mentally process the experience after she’s decompressed from a cortisol high, and realize that no harm occurred. Expect this to take many weeks, but eventually, I think you will find you have a much friendlier beardie.

Starburst looks super young! Was he/she a lockdown acquisition? If so, you are far from alone!

Daily handling at this age is not a bad thing at all, as long as it’s not for too long each time. 20 minutes at this age is best for now. You can easily bump it up to 30 minutes in a couple of months.

Who let the Beardie out, Roof, Roof-roof?! Ziggy plants his flag in the dog bowl. How old is he now?

Their relationship does seem blissful, if one can judge by their expressions. No lockdown trauma for these two. Will they be parents sometime soon?

Scary times for pregnant gals right now. I hope the timing of the C-section is perfect, and this stupid pandemic is at its lowest point for you at that stressful time. I hope you have plenty of help around the house and with the other kiddos at that time.

Wow, making your own hides with everything else going on! People have expressed that making bioactive enclosures is a lot of fun, once you have all the proper items and substrate stuff together. When are you due?

Is this clever solution still working for him, or are you going to have to give him an upgrade at some point in the future?

Ah Hah! Earlier question answered. He is truly gorgeous. And he is a big dude! Did you have any issues finding an enclosure big enough to suit his needs?

That’s awesome! Good to get them started young.

Just a quick reminder that they should wash their hands each time after handling any reptiles. Not for coronavirus, but because many, many reptiles shed salmonella bacteria. Most reptiles are resistant, and therefor asymptomatic and you don’t know they have it, but this disease can be quite serious for small children. And with the otherwise disease challenges floating around these days…

Hi Nixi, I hope your concerns have been addressed by management.

As the company zoologist I consult with forum members who have reptile and amphibian husbandry issues and need a bit of advice. It is not medical advice that is more properly addressed by a veterinarian, but issues such as general health, nutrition, lighting, behavior and so forth. I also write the species guides for the website.

That is why questions about customer service details are not handled by myself. It is definitely best to negotiate those concerns through the customer care link.
