May I assume you are entering the contest? June is a great month to do that!

Good for you! Letting him take charge and responsibility with guidance has been shown in a number of child development studies to enhance maturity and empathy later in life.

Just curious, how does Pascal let him know when he’s had enough?

Excellent news! Sounds like you may have a picky eater on your hands, though. 😏

This is pretty normal. Being transferred from one habitat to another is stressful, and when stressed they hide and recover, but slowly. Food is not nearly as important right now as hydration. Make sure your new friend sits in his/her water dish for 1/2 hour a day. Other than ensuring this takes place, do not, do not, handle this pet right now. The only exception is putting him in the water dish if you are unsure. Don’t even think about this pet being interested in food for about two weeks. In the meantime, read all you can, including the care guide on this site.

That may be the problem. Some progress has been made with emptying the digestive tract, but not enough. Definitely continue the honey baths. Did you already take the stool sample to the vet, it did you just examine it visually?

He must have touched the bottom of his shell and turned it to gold! He looks pretty young. Did you just get him?

Hi AB, good to hear from you again. I would like to add to what AB said, yes, they do usually respond to the primary caregiver in a positive way. Yes, do handle, but not too often. Do be patient and consistent in your actions and attitudes toward this pet. Eventually, this chammy may be equally comfortable with all family members, when mature. What a fun journey!!

That is both random and eye-catching. I would have bought it, it’s very clever and quite the conversation piece.

Everyone has to start somewhere. So what motivated you to adopt this pet two years ago?

He sounds like a real character. Is he about 6 months old?

Not time to panic yet, as it often takes a while after constipation for the appetite to kick back in. I wouldn’t worry about it for another week, and a second bowel movement.

That’s funny! They seem attached at the shoulder. Was this pet a gift to your son, or did he earn the money for the purchase himself?
