Hence the name. One of my all time favorite people stayed in Phoenix just a bit too long this year for St. Patricks day. His name is Patrick or Padraig in Irish. His wife left for their home in Ireland just before the lockdown. He didn’t, and has had to be separated from his family for over 2 months. He is home now after a trip from hell to get there with Aer Lingus complications. But he is there and well. Not bad for a 75 year old.

Perhaps your Patty will enjoy the same hearty health and robust good fortune his entire life. Sounds like he in on his way thanks to you. Was he a rescue?

Oi!! That is plainly fraud. Would you mind posting on this site, under the thread on this site, about reputable breeders, in factual and non-judgmental language, your experience with this breeder? Sometimes knowing NOT who to buy from is just as important as knowing who to buy from. For instance, a very happy leopard gecko owner would recommend over and over a particular breeder, and cannot say enough about how appropriate the shipping was, a reasonable value for the money, but also, the animal’s welfare was carefully considered in transit. Perhaps that was not so with this beardie breeder. If you get a chance others may benefit from your description of your experience.

Oh Sophia, I am so sorry to hear that. Yes Adenovirus is quite contagious and usually fatal. When you feel you are up to it, you might want to consider filing a complaint not only with the pet store management but with local authorities as well. There is no excuse for this sort of shoddy business practices that result in animal suffering.

It really is a cute hat, after all. How many crickets do you eat each week, Drogon?

I live in Colorado and the temperature here today will be 90 degrees F. I’m getting ready to take my goats for an early morning hike to get them some exercise before the heat of the day. What we won’t do for our animals!!

You can give him at least 3 roaches in oil. Also, stick with roaches for a bit and avoid crickets, definitely no mealworms. The more chitinous the food items shell, the harder it is to digest.

Where in the UK are you?

Smart move, because spending lots of time with a young beardie at this age will pay dividends in socialization and friendliness in the long run. Had you been thinking about this purchase for a while, or was it more spontaneous?

    Greetings,

I completely agree with Brandon. I would add on question about cause. Is it possible that your beardie is suffering from impaction? Is he on a sand substrate by any chance? I’m not sure that lowering the temperature is the best course of action, but do make sure that he has a place to get away from the maximum heat under the basking light when he needs to. Let him choose. If he is sick or impacted, low temperatures can add to his stress and lower his immune system. As long as he is active and eating insects, there is not a huge amount of worry. But do keep an eye on the BM thing. If he stops eating as well it means there’s simply nowhere for the food to go. The olive oil may help with that, but if he becomes lethargic and inappetent, you may need to get him to the vet and get him examined for blockages or other problems.
