Seriously, he waves at you when he wants out? Boy, does he have you guys trained! Awesome that he is so docile and actually wants to get out and interact. More than a few forum members with chammies report that they are shy or downright cranky. Was he always a bit social? Or did it take some time?
You are very wise to make sure he gets experience with animal care and doesn’t assume the adults will always do it. Sounds like a good veterinarian in the making! Does he have other pets as well?
You sound like an amazingly caring and conscientious owner. Too bad there aren’t more people like you out there purchasing animals they don’t need and won’t care for properly. Do you think his jaws will recover eventually? Does the vet have an opinion on that?
Sorry I didn’t see your response sooner. Yes, he does seem extremely introverted. Have you had him since he was a juvenile, or did you acquire him as an adult?
This reply is on the beardie. Quite a tale you have to tell. Sad but it sounds like it’s going to have a happy ending. I bet his preference for squishy things is a holdover from the MBD. It can really devastate their teeth and jaws. His mouth may still be sore. Hopefully in a year or even less, that will have diminished considerably.
Interesting, pet store purchases don’t usually result in such relaxed pets right away. The store seldom has the time to work with them. But he looks fat and happy, so kudos to them! What’s his name, and who named him?
