That’s the best rescue story I’ve heard in a few weeks. Excellent, excellent. I notice you said you acquired a male. May I assume the reason for that is breeding?

A nice set up looks easy to clean. To enter the contest, however, we need a picture of the actual pet.

I didn’t think blue tongue seemed quite right. The colors weren’t quite the same. What made you decide on this species as a pet?

She looks relaxed. Is she a blue tongued skink?

All sources that I have reviewed indicate that ginger leaves are non-toxic for amphibians. Some south Asian frog species love to roost in them, so I think you are safe. If this plant is new to the terrarium, however, just keep a sharp eye on your guy for any signs of unusual behavior that might indicate a skin sensitivity. If in doubt, remove the plant and observe your frog for a week or two before deciding when and if to place the plant back into the habitat.

That seems like a very sensible move, but I bet when the time comes your enclosures will seem a bit emptier without them.

Very funny. Was that the raptor that finally snatched the big game guide, where his last words were ‘clever girl’?

Oh man, you do have your hands full. But what a delight! I assume you will be selling or rehoming most or all of them at some point?

He looks like a pretty well-fed 6 month old, especially pancaked out like that. Is he your very first beardie?

I do hope he calms down a bit. Many forum members have been able to form a tremendous and loving bond with their chammie. Occasionally, someone does report an adult that they refer to as ‘grumpy’. Do you know much about his husbandry before you bought him? I generally assume that reptiles with bad attitudes were bought from a pet store, and not a breeder. There does seem to be a correlation. But I still ask so that other members can learn or even weigh in on the matter.

How old is this little one? It may be impossible to say yet, but it looks like there may be hemipenal bulges forming, but not sure.

Is he mean to crickets only, or to people too? Some chammies can be a bit cranky, for sure, but many are total sweethearts, so I am always curious.

She does seem to want out to play. What are all of those red bits in her tank?

I would encourage you to try more soft-bodied insects, beginning with crickets and dubia roaches. Leos have a very short digestive system and the hard exoskeleton of mealworms means that your lovely girl isn’t getting as much useful nutrition as she needs for long-term health.
