ZoodulcisModeratorChomper looks like an alert fellow. He must truly be a chomper to mac down those strawberries. Does your topping have other vitamins in it as well as calcium? If so, what brand are you using and why did you choose that? There are lots good choices for the pet parent and sometimes other readers like to know who is using what.
ZoodulcisModeratorLuna is certainly a happy girl. I love the Harry Potter reference, by the way. It’s good that you get her to eat some veggies, just bear in mind that as a juvenile she needs a higher cricket to veggie ratio than she will as an adult. Do you gut load all of your cricket for her?
ZoodulcisModeratorThat sounds like a very good rate of gain. What do you supplement his diet with, in addition to crickets?
ZoodulcisModeratorWhat a great photo. She knew just the right thing to do. Animals are so amazing that way. I hope your coming week is a little more pleasant for you, but if it isn’t Funky will be there for you.
ZoodulcisModeratorSounds like Eliot needs an adjustable lizard harness. You can get one on Etsy for about $8.00. It might make the Sunday weigh-in less stressful for both of you. How much weight does he seem to gain each week?
ZoodulcisModeratorOne more question I need you to answer regarding issue #2….what is the ambient temperature of the tank at the warm end during the day and then again at night?
ZoodulcisModeratorEliot is looking good! I can see a bit of difference between the two photos. Just curious, do you handle him a couple of times a week for fun and habituation to you, or is it just for weighing?
ZoodulcisModeratorAnswer to question Number 1….you might try misting with room temperature water 3 times per day. That should perk the moss up if it is suffering. Reduce the misting to twice per day in about a week. That should solve the problem. If it doesn’t, you may need to purchase an automatic mister. For question number 2, please supply a bit more information. When did the problem first start (how long has this change been taking place)? When did your gecko molt last? Is there any way you can post a good picture, so that the nature of the skin color, texture, and so forth can be seen, at least somewhat (pictures are not as good as face to face, but better than a description alone.)
ZoodulcisModeratorWow…that was a tremendous amount of detail that I would like to delve into once this holiday weekend is over. I particularly want to know more about the drugs prescribed and why. I did take the time to look up Dr. Funnell in order to craft a shout out for her. I shouldn’t have been surprised to learn that she is a raptor enthusiast and has goats, just like me. Would you agree that something like a cosmic group tour brings such folks as you, me, and Dr. Pat all into the same sphere? Twilight Zone, a bit, I know, but I have learned to recognize and accept what cannot fully be explained. Since Dr. Pat does reptiles, I would love it if she could post on this site, and encourage patients with herps in need of care to visit us here and perhaps even order from us! Just a quick July 4th thought. More later this week, I promise.
ZoodulcisModeratorOMG, ya gotta wonder at the kinda human being that would kick a helpless chick! Fortunately, the human equation is balanced by people like you. $600 raised for her surgery! You go girl. May I ask what kind of pain meds were administered? It may be useful info for other readers.
ZoodulcisModeratorYour small crickets should be ready to feed out in 3-4 weeks. In the meantime, you can order larger ones from us. Remember to gut load any crickets that you buy from a pet store, as they generally will not do that for you. Go to the beardie care section of this blog and check out our inexpensive gut-load formula. And don’t forget the vitamins either!
ZoodulcisModeratorThat is one of the nice things about such a slow moving animal, you can give them the freedom of the house or yard. It’s one thing I like about tortoises. He is indeed a bit bigger. I see that he changed color to match his surroundings a bit. Does he change color according to his moods as well?
ZoodulcisModeratorFor some reason, it appears that your last post has gone astray. Would you be so kind as to re-post it?
ZoodulcisModeratorBlessed be the loyal and faithful poultry companion. When you’re feeling even better, could you share the story of how came to rescue this sweet girl?
ZoodulcisModeratorOh please do post more updated pix! We were having trouble for a bit with folks not being able to post additional pictures and we solved that successfully last week, so the photos are pouring in. And we would love to have pix of Wyvern (very Dungeons and Dragons sort of name, and notice how I actually know that).
Chameleon slow mo has always fascinated me as well. It’s so very zen in a fast-paced world. I find it quite entrancing.
