ZoodulcisModeratorHey Chief, nice hammy. Do you have unusual coloration or is that a filter on mom’s camera?
ZoodulcisModeratorAh, Stryker, of course. I should have known. And what is the origin of such a distinguished sounding name?
ZoodulcisModeratorHow often do you feed the peach fuzzies?
ZoodulcisModeratorThank you Jill, that is very helpful of you!
ZoodulcisModeratorGlad i could make a helpful suggestion!
ZoodulcisModeratorIsn’t that term ‘biotoxic’ from a movie or something? Fern Gully comes to mind but that doesn’t seem quit right.
ZoodulcisModeratorThank you for your observations on the bioactive habitats so far. Readers find this sort of personal experience very helpful since people who sell these things are in the business of making money and the best way to do that is to make some pretty grand claims for your product. Consumers can be trusted a bit more. Also interesting that the beardie is no longer eating the substrate. It sounds as if you credit the presence of living plants as the solution to this, is that correct?
ZoodulcisModeratorHow long have you had your guys in their bioactive habitats and do you feel this type of set up is as sanitary and trouble-free as advertised? Except for spot cleaning after Bufom of course.
ZoodulcisModeratorI guess that keeps your janitorial services in demand. How many crickets can he consume in one feeding?
ZoodulcisModeratorMaybe consider calling him Rocky because he is a fighter and a survivor 😉
ZoodulcisModeratorI hope you do too! You are a photogenic little thing, so dad can’t be blamed too much. Do you haave a name?
ZoodulcisModeratorHowdy, Eco-earth should not need to be baked right out of the package. However, if you are trying to recycle it, I would bake it in an oven pre-heated to 250 degrees F for 1/2 hour. Spread it out on a cookie sheet no more than 2 inches deep and distribute it evenly. The eco-earth should also be uniformly dry in advance, with no wet clumps. Once baked evenly at the temperature recommended (and pre-heated is important or it might not be sufficient) then that should kill all molds, fungi and bacteria. Then it should be ready for a reincarnation. After two bakings, I would discard it before it turns to powder.
ZoodulcisModeratorWow, that is a lot of egg-laying from one female. How do you supplement her diet so that much egg laying doesn’t take too much out of her and ends up shortening her life span. You seem like the sort of careful keeper that has a plan for that.
ZoodulcisModeratorMy earlier comment didn’t seem to get posted so here is another response. He is a very pretty and chill dude, and he seems smart not to try to rest in his impromptu toilet/bed until it’s cleaned for him. After that, does he to back to his old holes?
ZoodulcisModeratorThat’s a pretty nice looking habitat. It seems to contain a nice looking Leo. Is the habitat bioactive?
