I am so pleased that he is thriving! I am always glad to pass on any tips to help make owners and their herps happier and healthier. It’s nice that he wants to be out with you so often. For your convenience, in case you need to get him back into his enclosure without a fuss, try not to feed him anywhere except inside his housing. That way he will have a positive association with the advantages of being back inside and not get so spoiled that placing him inside his enclosure is always a hassle.

Oh good because sand is really dangerous for them. One or two-inch tiles from Home Depot on a webbing sheet are one of my favorite floorings, and very affordable.

It’s getting close to the time when you will be able to tell if he is really a he. By shining a flashlight through the base of his tail, front to back, you may be able to see if spermatophores are developing. Doing this in a dark room really helpful. If you can’t tell, wait a month and do it again. At some point in his/her maturation, it will become abundantly clear.

Is there anything about this set-up that you would change, or do you feel that is just about as perfect as tree frog set up can be? And why did you choose this particular light? Did you try others and then change, get recommendations from other keepers, etc?
