[post_content] => It's not secret to anyone perusing this site that reptiles are amazing pets! They are quirky, colorful, and full of personality! But where do the reptile-curious begin? Should they grab any random pet from the nearest pet shop and give it a whirl? Anyone who's been caring for reptiles knows that that is not good advice, and has a high probability of sending that pet to the adoption center.
So where should a new owner start? They should start by identifying their life style.
Do you have copious amounts of free time? Or are you away 50+ hours a week?
Can you provide adequate living space for a free, roaming large reptile? Or is space limited?
What can you actually afford? Remember, a pet isn't just an upfront cost, but a daily responsibility that requires monthly expenses.
The answers to these questions will help you determine which reptile pet is going to fit your life style. If you can't offer the necessary space, then tegus, monitors, or boa constrictors will not be a good choice. If you have a limited budget, you may want to consider a bearded dragon or leopard gecko, who can feast on inexpensive insects, unlike mice-hungry snakes. Here's a great guide that will give you a glimpse at the hidden fees that many people don't consider when owning a bearded dragon.
There are many other factors that the reptile-curious needs to consider. All of these factors are outlined in our article that goes into greater depth of how to pick a reptile. But no matter which reptile you decide on, always know that these beautiful pets are a daily responsibility, and should not be an impulse purchase. And please, never give reptiles as pets!

[post_content] => Nearly all of you are reptile owners. But a few of you may also be avid fishermen or women. And this time of year is when we generally see more and more bait shops and fishermen or women looking for crickets for bait. If you fit this profile, here's a quick and dirty guide on how to target and catch rainbow trout during your next outing.
Cold Water
Trout love cold water. If the water temps get above 68 degrees, they start to get stressed, and will have a difficult time surviving. So you're most advantageous time to lurk for trout is when the waters are nice and chill. But don't wade in static water. Rainbow trout are predators that like to ambush their prey. To help conserve energy, they will use the movement of the current to help guide and propel their motions.
One advantage a trout fisherman has is that trout are generally missing insects from their diet in the colder months. You can exploit this diet deficiency, and fly fish with crickets or black soldier fly larvae. The challenge for the fisherman is keeping the insects warm enough to wiggle long enough to attract the attention of the trout. But due to the low frequency of edible insects, most fishermen and women can anticipate some nibbles if they are able to locate an area populated with yummy trout.

[post_content] => This is my little man, Crosis. I got him about a little over a year ago, from a PetSmart and he is an absolute sweetheart. He is a real ham, with a bunch of personality. And excellent with my 2 little nieces who think he is absolutely the best. He likes them since I allow them to feed him (with long tongs). So he has learned to associate the noise they make with food coming his way. I just love how he is essentially like a reptilian dog.

The heat bulb I have now for my bearded dragon seems like it isn’t giving off much heat. I have a few of these bulbs just laying inside a fish tank stand collecting dust. Will these work as a heat bulb for my lizard?
Thanks
