Raymie JohnsonParticipantTomato the Leopard Gecko has a smiley face on his head to show how happy he is to have been adopted with his brother Vincent, who he was raised with from hatchling age, last month! Something else that would make him super happy is to win a year’s worth of free crickets!

ZoodulcisModeratorHe is indeed beautifully lemon and black colored. So why the name Tomato?

Raymie JohnsonParticipantIt was a cute name and it seems to fit his personality! He and his brother didn’t have names when we adopted them, so we named Tomato after the fruit and Vincent after Vincent Van Gogh. Tomato is fun and quirky and Vincent is more serious and shy.

ZoodulcisModeratorIt’s fun to see personality differences within the same species. It makes you wonder what the difference is. Genes, early childhood experiences, etc 😆
Are these guys your first Leo’s?

Raymie JohnsonParticipantThey are our first leopard geckos. We were in the pet store where we got our bearded dragons and chameleon gushing over the baby leopard geckos, and a lady walks by, hears us, and asks us if we want her two leopard geckos. Of course, we said yes. They were malnourished with a little bit of MBD and very skittish but after two months with us and food, calcium, lighting, and warmth they are doing much better and their personalities are coming out!

ZoodulcisModeratorWhat a difference a conscientious pet owner can make! And the one in the picture is not undernourished now, if the tail is any indication. I have to give the bad owner credit for at least being in a pet store and approaching you. But extra super-duper good on you for taking them and giving them another chance. I take it that you are long term reptile fanciers?

Dakota KirkParticipantDefinitely, we love these little Leos! We have six lizards now: two bearded dragons, one crested gecko, a chameleon, and two leopard geckos. They all have different personalities and habits and are so fun to watch!
