But it’s important to remember one key thing: nature is full of danger, and that’s why you should never feed wild insects to your pet. [post_content] => A lot of people still don’t realize it’s possible to buy insects by mail, but we ship thousands of crickets and superworms by mail every week. Insects ship well- they don’t mind dark spaces and can survive the transit time it takes to get to you on a few slices of potato. Once they get to you, you’re going to need a place to put them and a few things on hand to help them get their physical health back to normal. First, you need a container to keep them in. If you’re going to be starting a colony, you might already have a container set up for them. Otherwise, our simple solution is to use a five gallon bucket. [post_content] => There is an overwhelming amount of information out there about everything reptiles need. But in reality, it isn’t that complicated. One of the main things you need to know about the bearded dragon’s diet is that it changes with age. Juvenile bearded dragons need a higher concentration of insect protein. As they age, they will switch off to a mostly vegetarian diet with some insects mixed in. In general, your bearded dragon should have anywhere from 3-10 or more insects per feeding, depending on their age, and the size of your feeders. [post_content] => If you live in Florida, you might have to make some adjustments to keep your mealworms healthy in the heat and humidity. Mealworms naturally like a warm, humid climate, especially to stimulate reproduction. Ideally, you want the temperature of your habitat to be between 75 and 85°F, with a humidity between 50 and 60%. This isn’t necessarily hard to achieve in Florida, but it can be hard to control. The first thing you should invest in is a thermometer/hygrometer to put inside your insects’ habitat.
