My male ball pyton isn’t interested in eating anymore. I upgraded from mice from Petco to rats from a local breeder 2 weeks ago but he hasn’t eaten any and he doesn’t even seem interested. He shed about 3 weeks ago but it’s the third time he shed in my care and he’s never had a problem eating after shedding.
No need to panic just yet. Get him back on mice for a little while. To make them more appealing, you should puncture the mouse cranium, called pithing. This makes the warmed mouse smell more delicious, for some reason. Ball Pythons are notoriously picky eaters, but generally get back in the game at some point. Drives owners nuts, so hang in there.
