      Hello guys,

I’m going to be a brand new mom to the pixie from life. I am getting a baby in a few weeks and I want to be as prepared as possible for my baby frog so any advice is appreciated. The main question I have right now is how necessary is it to have springtails/isopods? Are both necessary? I was considering just getting isopods and not springtails. I plan on having a water fall and nice water feature with an area for it to burrow in. I will use artificial plants for easy of maintenance though I was considering having some miss. That being said can I go with just isopods and does it have to be a specific type of isopods? Am I able to just yet some out in my yard?

Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for helping

If it were me I would use both. And definitely do not collect them from your yard, especially the isopods, that are known to be riddled with parasites that can affect your pet’s health. By using both, you ensure that detritus of different kinds in the habitat are consumed by these invertebrates who occupy similar but slightly different niches.
